I came home today from rehearsal down in Kalamazoo, and I decided I'd do some work in my shop. I went out and lit a fire in the woodstove to take the chill off. I check on it periodically to make sure everything's OK. I'll go out every half hour or so. I watch the fire for a few minutes, adjusting the draft, maybe adding a log. Each trip out, it's immensely satisfying for me to look up at the roof to see the smoke billowing out of the stack. Stoking the fire is my favorite simple pleasure right now. And now, I feel that I've pushed over the hurdle that has seemed to be in my way of actually getting out there and making some furniture. I've got the bug, and I ain't gonna stop until I have a finished piece.
Life is better with a fire in the stove, and a project in hand.
I'll keep you posted on developments with the end table I'm making.
