I'm buying a PC laptop.
It's time to go back home. It's dawned on me how much I truly dislike Macs, and nearly everything about them except for their aesthetic sensibility. I'm amazed people fawn about them as much as they do. In my book, PC's are infinitely better than Macs.
I've had this thing for a year, and I haven't grown to like it, other than for it's portability. I really hate the thing, and everything that I like about this Mac can be found in a PC, so I'm going to make the jump back. Plus I'll have a computer again that is intelligently designed and is incredibly intuitive, all the things that I feel are lacking in this P.O.S., and which ironically seem to be the primary selling points of Apple's ad campaign. PC's are the ones that are imminently more user friendly, and anytime I ever meet a PC person who's thinking about making the switch, I'll gladly be a cautionary tale to prevent them from making such a foolhardy mistake.
OK. Enough of my rabid rant against the machine.

My Mac runs on OSX, is POS the new operating system? Blimey. The things you learn on the Internet.
God be with you, brother, no matter how far away from the fold you wander.
And if you need somewhere to send that POS, I've got a mailing address. And even some cash.
Scott you are cracking me up.
Dan, what can I say? Farewell my brother.
And Dan why don't you admit that the real reason is that you can't "watch it now" from Netflix on a Mac.
Beauty is skin-deep, Dan.
You don't need a show pony of a computer, but a workhorse.
To which I (and I'd wager most of your forestry forum friends) would urge: So, git 'er done!
Alison,
Netflix and other similar such things is part of the reason. The world works on PCs, and though it gets better for Macs all the time, I still get very annoyed when a very cool thing isn't available to me, because I have a Mac, that I paid more money for than a comparable PC.
I think all I really paid more for were the widgets, which I like a lot. But everything else...I am so happy to leave behind. Ironically, I partially made the move towards a Mac because of their imperviousness to viruses, though I've decided that the frustration I've had with this Mac over the past year is far more than any nuisance from a shareware program or a virus, which I've never actually received on a PC.
I'm done with my show pony, and I'm ready to send it to the glue factory, with relish.
Scott, maybe we should talk--I don't have the funds right now, but I hope to by October or so.
