A close examination of the empty Guinness bottles in my returnables reveals how obsessed I am with getting this darn cake just the way I want it. Each empty bottle represents one cake. Including the cake I have in the oven, I now have 33 empty bottles, which means I've made 33 unique cakes, or tweaked existing ones. That's a lot of time, a lot of tinkering, and a lot of ingredients.
Let's do the math:
Eggs: 16 1/2 dozen
Flour: 18 lbs
Irish Cream: 1 gallon
Cocoa Powder: over 8 lbs
Brown Sugar: over 22 pounds
That's mind boggling to me. And amazingly, I'm actually losing some weight. Go figure.
All I know is that I'm ready to be done with this. The due date is September 1, so I don't have much longer to go, but as is my wont, I'm sure I'll be tinkering with it up until the very end.
