Well, as of about a half hour ago, one more room's been painted. The living room is DONE! I had to get that done for my psyche before I left for California tomorrow. I haven't packed or anything, but it shouldn't take too long to get that all taken care of. My first floor definitely has some "color" now. The back room is green, and the dining room is red with a yellowish ceiling. Now the living room is "Safari Brown." There was too much white before, and it sure feels good to get some projects done. I was hoping to hang the curtains before I left, but they didn't have the curtain rods in stock over at Restoration Hardware, so that'll have to wait.
Now, it's time to take a quick nap, and then after some frantic laundering and packing, it's off to Cali for three weeks. Two weeks at a music festival, where we're doing a premier by Phillip Glass who composed music to go with a photo presentation of the photos of Franz Lanting, National Geographic's photographer in residence. Should be an amazing experience, and I'll be sure to blog about it.
Then the third week should be the vacation of a lifetime, at least for someone like me. I'm off to Napa Valley to study for a week at the Culinary Institute of America, in their Adult Career Discovery program. The focus is on baking and pastry, and it will entail 30 hours in the classroom. The bulk of it will be hand's on, with classroom work discussing the ins and outs of careers in pastry. The classes start at 2:00, and go until 8:00, which should give plenty of time in the morning/early afternoon to sample the wonders of Napa Valley, which I plan to take full advantage of.
I can't wait!
