Yet another reason...

...not to buy a Mac. iTunes stinks, compared to Windows Media Player.

It's silly that you have a to create a playlist of a CD in order to have it stand alone, if it's the only thing you want to listen to. On WMP, you can select the artists you want, and then select the individual CD, if you just want to listen to that. Apparently iTunes isn't smart enough to divvy up the music by CD.

I bought an album online at iTunes, and want to burn a CD for playing in the car. The only way I've discovered to do that is to create a new playlist, then burn the playlist onto a CD.

On a PC? You stick a blank CD in, just drag and drop the songs you want, then burn it.

Oh, and on iTunes, you can't select multiple titles for dragging into those playlists. You have to select each individually. Dumb.

Blech.

Mark has already stood up for the truth. So I will only add, "Amen." (Though I hold down shift and click to select multiple songs.)

I also buy all my music (far too many purchases) through iTunes nowadays as well. My only complaint is that my purchased playlists can only be burnt seven times. Perhaps that's true across the board when purchasing music online, but I would like to be able to burn my music as often as I please. (Not that it has been a problem for me as of yet.)

The one good thing about my railing against Macs...is that it stirs up strong feelings...and sometimes, as in this case, I get answers, so thank you to you both.

I suppose I could just pose these rabid rantings in the form of questions, but it's so much more fun to type away a vituperative diatribe.

Thanks for the insights guys...maybe it's not as bad as I think...but it's still bad. :-)
