Trombone players are what?

I had a bit of a boost in the self-confidence department this week. A cute violinist was subbing with us this week, and she and a friend were staying for the week at a good friend's house. Word came through the grapevine that she was asking about me, wondering if I was available. Arrangements were made to hang out, and both Wednesday and Thursday nights I went over to my friend's house. We watched a movie one night and then played games the next night into the wee hours of the morning. And I mean wee. I left his house at 5:00 in the morning. Good times.

I was digging her, and it was clear she was digging me. Later, a little more info came through the ole grapevine. She's apparently been seeing an Italian dude for a month or so. She was asked about this guy while talking about me, and word is she said that he was alright, but not "cool like Dan." Hmm. Is she talking about me? What in the world?

I snuck out for coffee with her tonight during the concerto that neither of us play. We were having a good time, and she mentioned how much she liked trombone players. I asked her why.

She said the usual things, that we get along with everyone, that we like to have fun, that we're easy going and laid back, (which really is true of trombonists). She added something else to the list too. Apparently, she finds us sexy, me included.

I'm laughing out loud as I type it, because it seems so absurd. But let me tell you: I'll take that to the bank.

So, to sum up the week for Mr. Dan:

1). Cute girl asks about me.

2). Cute girl says I'm cooler than an Italian dude.

3). Cute girl apparently thinks I'm "sexy." Go figure.

These are all becoming some serious deposits into the self-confidence bank, which is too often to be found in the red. This week we're looking at a positive balance--decidedly in the black.

As to the girl, though she was cute, there were too many red flags flapping in the breeze for me to pursue her.

As I reread this, I'm thinking it all sounds way too much like high school, doesn't it? But what the hell, it's where I'm living these days. Just one more reason I'll be glad to find the right woman.

As to who that might be, I'm on the lookout for a good Christian chica who happens to think trombone players are not half bad.
